A seasoned communications and business professional for more than 20 years. I have written for dozens of newspapers and magazines, websites, businesses and organizations throughout Canada, the United States, Costa Rica, Colombia, Peru, Brazil and the United Kingdom.
I report for reNews, the leading UK-headquartered renewable energy trade newsletter. I cover the onshore and offshore wind industry in Canada and the United States, investigating breaking news, interviewing industry players and writing in-depth features.
As a freelance journalist in Latin America, I contributed to Time magazine, Business Week, the Journal of Commerce, the Christian Science Monitor, CBC radio, National Public Radio and many other news outlets.
I spent a year as managing editor of the Tico Times, a weekly English-language newspaper in San José, Costa Rica. Before moving to Latin America I worked at the Ottawa Citizen, the daily newspaper of record in Canada’s capital city, reporting local and business news, and as a copy editor and homes editor.
Before jumping to journalism, I worked in banking and investment, including a stint at the now-defunct Vancouver Stock Exchange (the wild west of small-cap stock trading in Canada) and several years at Canada Trust. I completed the Canadian Securities Course with honours.
In addition to English, I speak Spanish and Portuguese and can still get by in French. I have a Bachelor of Commerce, Honours, and a Journalism diploma.
I like to dig into a new assignment. I conduct extensive background research, interview key sources, identify the essential elements and put it all together in a lively, informative story.
